The New Altar no. 3
2023
Archival Giclée print
150 x 120 cm

The New Altar series delve into an analytical dissection of dissonance between disparate elements, spotlighting a striking incongruity in both temporal and medium-based aspects. This work initiates a distinctive dialogue stemming from these contrasts. The conventional utility of chroma key green, a staple in contemporary digital imagery, finds itself rendered obsolete in the context of Renaissance art due to the absence of modern technological applications. As a result, chroma key green undergoes a metamorphosis from a practical tool to a purely aesthetic element within the artwork.

In this fusion, the historic individual identities that might have been prominent in Renaissance art gradually diminish, giving precedence to abstract elements such as colour and form. This shift orchestrates a disjunction within the integrated timeframe of the artwork, challenging the viewer to reconcile the juxtaposition of past artistic practices with contemporary aesthetic values.
